Palace of Culture, also known as The Palace of Culture, opened in September 1999, is Malaysia's main theater for the performing arts and theater from the inside and outside the country, including musical theater, operettas, operas, dance performances and classical music and orchestral concerts. Istana Budaya is located adjacent to the National Art Gallery in Jalan Tun Abdul Razak in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.

The idea of ​​building an international theater began in 1964 with a proposal to establish a cultural center to replace the "National Theatre". Construction work began in 1995 and completed in 1999. Once completed and operational, the National Theatre or National Theatre moved into the new building. The opening of the Palace of Culture inaugurated by former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohammad in 1999.
